Another Run

I ran again today, the longest run before the marathon, 20 miles (32 km) in 3 hours 40 minutes.  Mandi and I started up at the top of Snowbird and ran down the canyon, then along Wasatch Drive and took the skybridge across the freeway to Parley's Trail, which brought us to Tanner Park and we continued on Atkin Ave and finished at the Ferrin's on Melbourne Street.  Vern and Susan were nice enough to drive us back to Mandi's, and I can't believe how fast it is to drive back, what took us all morning to accomplish!  I left the house this morning at 5:20 am and didn't get back till 11:40 pm, so Luke is a very supportive husband!  I told him he deserves a round of golf, just to even it out!

First Tooth

Ava lost her first tooth on Sunday afternoon while we were at church in Primary.  It was during opening exercises and I was about to lead the kids in singing a reverence song.  Ava ran up to me and exclaimed, "My tooth came out!"  Tess was sitting right there in the front row and she started jumping up and down and screaming for joy.  The two of them caused quite a stir and commotion and all the kids got really excited.  Ava put the tooth in my hand and luckily, just at that moment, I saw Luke in the hallway.  I motioned for him to come in and I handed him the tooth and asked him to take it home and put it in a safe place.  Ava put the tooth under her pillow Sunday night and received a dollar bill in it's place from the "tooth fairy."  The tooth she lost was the bottom middle left incisor.

Bike Parade

Today our ward had its annual bike parade and BBQ.  Although it was pretty hot, we had a lot of fun.  The primary kids all decorated their bikes and we rode down the path together to the community park.

 The food was delicious.  We had hotdogs and pulled pork sandwiches.  Along with a variety of sides and salads and lots of desserts.

I was in charge of bring some water games, which pretty much just turned into a water fight.  I filled up 200 water balloons and brought them in a cooler.  A couple other people did the same and the kids had fun soaking the bishop.

Lagoon

Last Monday Luke and I took the girls to Lagoon with our friends Jeff and Linnea.  It was a fun, crazy, long and memorable day! 

 In the morning the weather was warm and the girls went on lots of the kids rides.

The girls convinced me to go with them on a ride called the Jumping Dragon.  It's in the kids area of the park so I figured how bad could it be.  Well, it's bad, at least for me.  It spins in a circle for a while then stops and spins backwards for a while.  When we got off the ride I had to run to the nearest garbage can and hurl.

After lunch we spent some time away from the rides, enjoying the waterpark.  That was probably my favorite time of the day.  Clouds began to gather though and we got rained out of the water park later in the afternoon. 

Even though the clouds make it look dark, this was still the afternoon.  The rides kept on going and because of the sporadic rain showers the lines were really short.

We rode on the train while it thundered and poured.  It was actually really fun!

By the end of the day Luke had convinced me to try Wicked.  I was afraid I'd get sick again, but I didn't and I loved the roller coaster.  It was so fast and smooth there really wasn't any time to be scared.

This is a picture I found online of Wicked.  The ride shoots you out of the tunnel on the bottom left and straight up and then straight down again.  It's so fast and so fun!  I closed my eyes though when we got to the top.  I couldn't watch coming straight down.

3 hours of fun!

This morning Mandi and I did a 17 mile run along the Jordan River Parkway, starting from my home in Lehi and then down to Saratoga Springs and back.  We clocked it at 17.12 miles and it took us 3 hours 11 minutes.  For all the Canadian folks, it's equal to 27.5 kilometers.  We kept a nice slow jog the entire time and I felt really good at the end.  My feet are tired now, but other than that I feel fine. Next big run is in August, a 20 miler!

Bridal Veil Falls

Yesterday we took the girls to Bridal Veil Falls down in the canyon by Provo.  It was such a perfect day because the weather was so hot (99 degrees) and the water was so nice and cold.  It was really refreshing to walk by the falls in the cool water.  The breeze was cool coming off the mountain and we stayed for about an hour letting the girls play and look for rocks.

Running

"Some running is good, more is better, and too much is just enough."

On the 4th of July I attempted my personal longest run from Mandi's house to Grandpa's house for breakfast.  14.33 miles!  I felt great and Mandi and I decided after running it together to sign up for the Top of Utah marathon.  It's up in Logan on September 15 and I'm super excited!  Here's a link in case you're interested and want to sign up too!  http://www.topofutahmarathon.com/index.php

Tess the Princess Bride

On my anniversary last week I brought my wedding dress out of storage to show the girls.  Of course as soon as they saw it, Tess wanted to try it on.  I decided to try it on first.  I wanted to see if it still fit after nine years, and it did!  Ava didn't want to try it on because she said it looked itchy, but Tess really wanted to try it on.  So I let her.

Waterslides

We've got the pass of all passes and have really been enjoying Seven Peaks this summer.  A couple weeks ago Luke and I went to the Provo location with the girls.  Brian actually came with us and we had a lot of fun.  Luke and Brian rode every waterslide in the park while the girls and I played in the kids place.  I didn't mind too much though because waterslides kind of freak me out so I only ride on a couple each time we go.  Well, on this particular day, as we were almost ready to go, Brian and Luke convinced me and the girls to go on one last slide with them.  They said it wasn't scary and that we'd all enjoy it.  So Ava rode with Luke and Tess rode with me.  And it was awesome!  Tess loved it so much that we had to do it three times in a row.  On the third time, as we are shooting down the slide, Tess yells out, "oh ya, baby!"  It made me laugh so much!  Now we just keep saying it whenever we're excited about something.

This isn't a picture I took, I just got it off the internet, but I included it to show which slide I was talking about that Tess loved so much.  It's really fun because we all went at the same time, kind of like a race. It makes the line go by faster too because 8 people can ride at the same time.
