Exciting News

Luke was accepting into the photography program at BYU!  We haven't made our final decision yet, but what an honor and compliment to be accepted.  Last year BYU had 180 applicants and they accepted only 20.  This year was the same, only 20 were accepted and Luke was one of them!  I knew he had talent, but it's nice to know that others see it too.  Above is one of the pictures from his portfolio that he submitted.  They must have liked it.  I really love this picture because it shows the motion and feeling of driving in the car.  Road trip!  It makes me want to travel.  Anyway, I just thought I'd brag about Luke a little bit.

Grandma Mary

Grandma Mary passed away yesterday, peacefully at home.  Luke and I spent this morning talking about our memories of her and going through all our pictures, finding our favorite ones. Something we noticed was Grandma did not like getting her picture taken!  We didn't have as many pictures as we thought we did.  Grandma loved our girls and we all loved her so much too.  We'll miss her, more than I can even describe.  Jill Harman helped write her obituary for the paper and it turned out beautifully.  I especially like the comparison between Grandma the gardener and Grandma the nurturer.  She loved to cultivate beautiful roses each year in her yard, and as a mother and grandmother she nurtured and cultivated wonderful children and grandchildren.  She made everything bloom.

St. George Trip

Here are some of our pictures from our St. George trip.  The guys went golfing and the girls went shopping.  Also, we took Ava and Tess to a fun bounce house place called Jumping Jacks.  St. George is beautiful with the striking red rocks and clear blue skies.  All the palm trees make me feel like I'm on vacation to some exotic location, like Hawaii.  We drove to Mesquite one night for Phil's famous ribs and the drive alone was worth it.  We drove through a beautiful canyon that took us through 3 different states: Utah, Arizona, and Nevada.

Ava's New Favorite Princess

We've been going to the library a lot lately and we borrow books and movies.  Now, Ava has a new favorite movie: Quest for Camelot.  It's a Warner Brothers animation from the late 90s.  The main girl/princess is named Kayley, but Ava thinks that it's Haili.  (her Aunt Haili, Brock's wife) Anyway, it's really cute when she watches the movie and says, "there's Haili."  I just let her think that it is Haili.  The princess Kayley even kind of looks like Haili, with beautiful brown hair, and she rides a horse too!
